Code of Ethics
This code of Ethics supplements the Rules of The Tamil Chambers of Commerce and Professionals
and should be read in context thereof. The Rules of The Tamil Chambers of Commerce and
Professionals stay supreme and this Code of Ethics only provides general guidelines for the
association and its members in the management of the association.
The aim of this Code of Ethics is to encourage greater friendship, kinship and collaboration among
the members of the association in order to create a favourable environment that allows the
association to operate effectively, efficiently and in a sustainable way.
This Code of Ethics lays out the main principles for conduct and acts but is not limited to such
principles and acts. Any other principles and acts that can be reasonably argued to infringe the
underlying philosophy behind this Code of Ethics shall be considered to form part of this Code of
Ethics. The Management Committee shall vouch on the reasonableness of such principles and acts.
Members shall be under the obligation to act with integrity, in the interest of the association, and to
exercise all reasonable personal, professional, business and social skills and care in respect to:
Guideline 1: Good Conduct and Team Spirit

  1. Act with integrity and high ethical standards
  2. Treat all persons and members fairly, without bias and with respect
  3. Encourage others to participate in the affairs of the association
  4. Encourage others to develop their learning and competence
  5. Use their skills to mentor younger and new members
  6. Endeavour to help those in need, improve the well-being of individuals and quality of life in
    society and contribute positively to the socio-economic development of society
    Guideline 2: Fiduciary Duty
  7. Every member should make it a duty to attend the statutory meetings of the association
  8. Every member should ensure that they pay their membership fees in a timely manner
  9. Accept appropriate responsibility as and when required
  10. Observe the proper duties of confidentiality and discretion when handling affairs of the
    association and its member and beneficiaries
    Guideline 3: Conflict of Interest
  11. Avoid and mitigate whenever possible situations of real or perceived conflicts of interest
  12. Inform the management committee whenever such situations arise
    Guideline 4: Fit and Proper
  13. Avoid any behaviour that reflects badly on TCCP, it affairs, its members and affiliates
  14. Immediately notify the TCCP if convicted of a criminal offence or upon becoming bankrupt
    or disqualified as a professional in their field of competency
  15. Notify the TCCP of any significant violation of this Code of Ethics by any other member
    In case of breach of the above, management committee will inform the member and if the matter
    becomes a regular occurrence, the member will be judged as having committed an act of
    misconduct and the case shall be treated as per Article 8 of the Rules of The Tamil Chambers of
    Commerce and Professionals.
